In search of Magnolia

A movie blog. Searching for the thrill I first experienced when I saw Magnolia by P.T. Anderson. I'll try to review every movie I see, good or bad, and top that with some other movie related stuff.

The Men Who Stare at Goats

Jedi Warriors. The new hope of the American army. (That’s 2 Star Wars references in 2 sentences, puh)

The Men Who Stare at Goats (2009) is a movie about a secret squad, a secret weapon: the power of the mind. A bunch of tree-huggers really, who think they can use their psychic abilities to change the world. The summum of their power: stare at a goat till it dies (and when it does, feel bad about the lost life).

Here’s the trailer

This is a Coen movie not made by the Coen brothers. Made by the, to me unknown, Grant Heslov, who does have a long lasting relationship with George Clooney, a main character in the movie. It has the Coen actors (next to Clooney there’s Jeff Bridges). It has the same absurd humor and story lines. It has the same feel.

An amusing short relaxing flick. Easy to digest, fun to watch.
